Located in the heart of Marylebone, Roketsu is a place to experience the spirit of traditional Japan in London. Rooted in the philosophy of kappo dining, each moment is shaped by seasonality and craftsmanship.
The interior was created by the master carpenters of Nakamura Sotoji Komuten, renowned for their sukiya architecture. Built using traditional Japanese techniques and materials, the space reflects a dedication to authenticity and refined simplicity.
Here, every detail is considered — from the rhythm of the meal to the atmosphere that surrounds it. Dining becomes more than a sequence of courses; it becomes an immersive encounter with Japanese culture.

Counter Craftedby Master Carpenters
At the heart of Roketsu lies a stunning seven-metre counter made from a single slab of 300-year-old hinoki cypress. Surrounded by the gentle scent and warmth of natural wood, guests are invited to experience Kappo dining in its purest form.
Our chefs prepare each dish in front of you — engaging in conversation, grilling over binchōtan charcoal and cooking over straw fire, and shaping sushi with quiet precision. It is a dining experience that celebrates craftsmanship, interaction, and the art of simplicity.
The counter and surrounding interior were created by the master carpenters of Nakamura, renowned for their work in traditional sukiya architecture. Materials handcrafted in Kyoto were transported to London and assembled with meticulous care by the same artisans.

Bar Area
Upon entering Roketsu, guests are welcomed by our elegant bar area — an inviting space for a drink before or after dinner, or for a lighter dining experience.
The bar offers a carefully curated selection of sake, fine wines, and cocktails inspired by Japanese ingredients and seasonal flavours. It provides a relaxed yet refined atmosphere — an elegant introduction to the Roketsu experience, or a quiet conclusion to your evening.

Private Dining & Exclusive Hire
On the lower ground floor, a composed and intimate dining space offers a discreet and refined setting in Marylebone. The space is available for private hire, accommodating up to 12 guests for a seated dinner or up to 20 guests for a standing reception. It is well suited to business receptions, private celebrations, and intimate gatherings in central London.
Seasonal Japanese cuisine may be prepared on a bespoke basis, with menus thoughtfully tailored to reflect the occasion.

A Setting Framed by Wine
Overlooking the glass-fronted wine cellar, the space offers a refined atmosphere for dining and drinks. Our collection features over 500 carefully curated wines, including rare bottles and an exceptional vertical of Château Mouton Rothschild (1968–2006), thoughtfully selected to complement your gathering. The space is available for exclusive hire.

Guests are welcome to bring their own wine or sake, subject to a corkage charge of £30 per bottle.

Intimate Private Dining Room (2–6 Guests)
On the lower ground floor, Roketsu features a fully private dining room, entirely separate from the main dining area. Designed for business dinners, family celebrations, and small gatherings of two to six guests, the space offers privacy and understated elegance in central London.
Seasonal Japanese cuisine is prepared with the same care and precision as at the counter, and menus may be thoughtfully tailored to suit the occasion. Enquiries regarding private dining are welcome.

Step outside to Roketsu's intimate terrace — a quiet retreat on New Quebec Street, available throughout spring and summer.
Three tables for two offer a relaxed yet refined setting to enjoy Roketsu's seasonal Japanese cuisine beneath the open sky. Whether lingering over lunch or settling in for dinner, the terrace brings a sense of calm to the heart of Marylebone.
Terrace seating is available for reservation via OpenTable, subject to seasonal availability.

The Calligraphy of Roketsu
The “Roketsu” logo was created by the renowned Japanese calligrapher Shu-oh! YAMAZAKI, celebrated for his dynamic yet elegant style that bridges traditional and contemporary art.
His works have been featured in major cultural exhibitions, corporate branding, and collaborations with global luxury brands.
The calligraphy embodies Roketsu’s spirit — the harmony between Japanese authenticity and modern refinement.
